Weekly Cartoon: I Thought They Said It Wasn't Personal?

“I Thought They Said It Wasn’t Personal?”

Showing a profit for the first time in seven years should have been a major headline grabber for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, instead controversy over Sir Geoffrey Boycott’s intentions to be elected to the board cast a dark cloud over what should have been a positive week for the club.

YCCC chairman, Steve Denison, is understood to have asked the Yorkshire club’s membership not to elect Boycott stating his reason’s weren’t personal but “we want individuals with skills that can guarantee the survival of the club.” which seems to imply Denison doesn’t think Boycott was the man for the job.

But with 48,426 first-class runs to his career, Geoffrey is a very popular figure, both inside and outside of the club, and it would take a very brave man to attempt to take Boycott’s wicket when it comes to the vote at the AGM on March 26!

Definitely something going on behind the scenes, shame cause YCCC do so well in the cricketing world and now financially.

Great cartoon again! Sometimes you just have to let a legend help the club he loves
