Environment Secretary Pays Great Yorkshire Show a Visit.

New Environment Secretary, Michael Gove, dropped in on day two of the The Great Yorkshire Show. Now in it’s 160th year, England’s premier agricultural event continues to showcase the best the county as to offer.

The effects of Brexit are at the front of many a farmer’s mind at the moment with concerns about possible losses of EU subsidies and migrant labour.

Mr. Gove was quick to reassure them that the government would do all in its power to match any losses in subsidies for the next three years as a result of Brexit.

It wasn’t all Brexit for the former Education Secretary as he helped launch a new Yorkshire foodie guide and was keen to sample the array of Yorkshire produced Cheeses,beer, pies and gin on show.

Adding: “Yorkshire is renowned for its high-quality food and drink and I’ve been delighted by the delicious array of cheeses, cask ales and gins on show today.”
