Speaker Announcement

The theme of the May event is inspirational leadership and a key speaker will be Bradford City legend Wayne Jacobs. Wayne is Co-founder of One In A Million, a charity which creates pathways in life for youngsters who have faced difficulties, motivating them to take control, be more confident and achieve their full potential.

Wayne enjoyed 26 memorable years in professional football, both as a player and manager spanning all tiers of English football including Premier League, Championship, League 1 & 2 and the National League. He is now Chair of Active Bradford, a partnership of organisations that helps formulate the strategy for Sport and Physical Activity in the Bradford District. His connection with Bradford City is still as strong today, as the club is a community partner of One In A Million, alongside Bradford Bulls and Yorkshire Cricket Community Foundation.

In a Q&A-style session, Wayne will speak about his life and career, showing slides and footage from his footballing days and will tell the story of how One In A Million was born.

He will be followed by Craig McHugh, Executive Director and Trustee of One In A Million. Craig leads the Corporate Events & Sponsorship team, following a successful 22-year career in sales and sales management which involved extensive international travel. He is passionate about making a difference to Bradford’s children and young people and will explain how he achieves this by forging strong relationships with the local business community.

Aaron Mellor is Managing Director of Tokyo Industries which owns and runs 32 of the UK’s ‘coolest’ bars, clubs and festivals - including Bradford’s BrewHaus, Stein Bierkeller, Tiki-O and Circle Nightclub. Aaron will give an insight into the intriguing world of the vibrant and fast-moving nightlife sector and share with delegates some secrets of what it takes to succeed in one of the world’s toughest and ever-changing industries

Director Nigel Holliday will give delegates some history about Stein Bierkeller and BrewHaus, off Great Horton Road, which has recently been named as Best Pub in West Yorkshire in the National Pub & Bar awards. Delegates will get chance to view the recently- refurbished private dining area and presentation facilities, now available for meetings and events.

Director of Yorkshire Enterprise Network Sheraz Malik will make some exciting announcements about this year’s Bradford Business Conference. Sheraz was recently named as one of Business Insider magazine’s “42 under 42” top young entrepeneurs in Yorkshire and he will also be saying a few words about the experience.

Mr Malik said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Brew Haus and Stein Bierkeller, having held an extremely successful networking event there in September 2015 to launch the venues. Just a few short months later we will be celebrating them receiving a prestigious award. It’s fantastic to see the investment and confidence they’ve shown in Bradford paying off with national recognition and I hope their success will be an inspiration to others to build on this momentum and continue bringing their businesses into Bradford.

“We’re also extremely excited to welcome a great key speaker like Wayne Jacobs who was always a huge favourite among Bantams fans. He now applies his heart and endeavours to letting the children and young people of our region know they are unique and valued through his work with On in a Million’. I’m sure that delegates will find the talks to be extremely motivational and inspiring.”

This event has now finished, we would like to thank all those who attended and supported YEN
