Most office workers spend most of their time being busy with paper work, meetings and being in the office. At the end of the day we all go home put our feet up and relax. However be aware that being physically inactive is a risk factor for Coronary artery disease. (Coronary artery disease is a common heart disease and normally the cause of heart attacks. The cause of this is plaque that builds up along the inner walls of the arteries of the heart. This narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow to the heart). Hence how many of us actually take time to think of their health and go to the gym? This is because research has been conducted and it has been proven that physical exercise is good and will benefit an individual.
Research has discovered that busy office workers who take time to exercise during the day feel more productive. Exercising helps increase the cardiovascular functional capacity. Cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood vessels and the estimated five litres of blood that the blood vessels transport. This also involves the responsibility of transporting oxygen, nutrients, hormones and cellular waste products throughout the body. For all this to happen they are all powered by the heart which is estimated to be the size of two human fists.
Exercise helps to control weight by preventing excess weight gain or helping to maintain weight loss. This is probably the most common issue for a lot of people. This is because others gain weight easier and on the other hand other people can just lose weight without breaking a sweat. This at times could be a result of stress and feeling under pressure with a lot of things. Hence exercising helps to burn calories therefore the more intense the activity the more calories you burn. However not everyone has enough time to be visiting their local gym or setting up a gym in their home, this means you should get more active throughout the day by simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Instead of driving or catching the bus to a place that is within a walking distance you should walk. Another way could be to increase your household chores because everyone loves a clean home.
Normally after grocery shopping or completing household chores you could be left feeling breathless and working out will help boost your energy. Light exercise helps beat stress and depression. It also helps fend off occupational health problems like repetitive strain injury. British researchers conducted research with 10 workers and 6 out of 10 said their time management skills, mental performance and ability to meet deadlines improved on days when they exercised. This means that exercising also helps in getting the best out of your working day too.
From today onwards if your typical day is your 9 to 5 job and relaxing at home. Think of the impact that is having on your health and well being. Like they say prevention is better than cure.
